Venice Cusine and Rialto Market

So one of my favorite things to do is eat food!! I have had my share of it in Venice and it has been delectable!! Here are just a few pics of a variety of food I've sampled from cuttlefish and baked sea bass to baby scallops and ravioli. The best part of experiencing a different culture is tasting all the different cuisines!!! Also, we went to the famous Rialto Market and it had some of the biggest and freshest seafood I've ever seen! I wished we had a stove so we could have purchased and cooked some for ourselves.

Caprese with Sorbet

Tuna

Salmon

Cuttlefish

Baked Sea bass

Cafe Latte

Baby Scallops

Ravioli with sea bass in shrimp sauce

Snails anyone...??

Octopus

Savory crepe with ham, mushrooms, cheese, and tomatoes

Fried Eggs and Bacon

Packed Suitcase

Suitcase is packed and I'm ready to go!!!

Be Open

Today I took a break from packing and watched a documentary on legendary quarterback Warren Moon. At the conclusion of the film he was asked how he would sum up his football career and he said two words that struck a cord with me: "Be Open." He said these words in relation to being open to opportunities, new perspectives, circumstances of life etc., because in essence they all lead you to where you need to be.

So as I leave in the morning for 3 weeks to experience a culture that is not my own, I carry this sentiment with me. Be Open! The words normal and deviant are ambiguous across cultural lines and I'm likely to have a myriad of experiences across this spectrum. My response I hope will be to (1) Enjoy it (2) Embrace the moment (3) Live in the tangibleness of its difference.

I currently live in a society that fears gray and yet if we truly looked at ourselves that is where most of us fall. So in actuality there lies in us all a fear of our inner self. But if we simply change our perspective from right versus wrong to simply just "is" we alleviate the "shortcomings" that we often condemn in ourselves and others. I am choosing to do this by way of two simple words: Be Open! This is my desire...as you follow me along this journey I hope you will read my post with the same sentiment.
